About Me

Hello, you are very welcome here. My name is Fernanda and I am a Psychotherapist who has been working online since the first lockdown, which has proven to be very efficient and convenient for both therapist and client. I work with people across the UK and internationally. I offer counselling/therapy in both English and Portuguese.

I am an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), specialising in Integrative Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT). This is a form of talking therapy encouraging the development of rational thinking to facilitate healthy emotional expression and behaviour.

Everybody faces difficulties in life and sometimes it is hard to manage our emotions, thoughts and behaviour. Anxiety, depression, anger, hurt, guilt, shame, jealousy and envy do usually affect an individual’s life in many aspects, in our relationships, work and physical symptoms.

I will help you to overcome the emotional difficulties you may be facing. Changing your thinking and rigid beliefs, recognised as the key to any disturbances. I aim to help you develop healthy habits, beliefs and thinking patterns, promoting a positive change in your life.

I am passionate about CBT

I am passionate about CBT and how it enables me to give my clients a new perspective on life or on some aspects of it, that they may have struggled with, empowering them to pursue their goals.

I have a background in Education, I have a bachelors degree in Portuguese language, and I graduated in Brazil from The  University of Philosophy, Science and Letters in 2007. I worked as a Portuguese tutor, teaching a variety of students, ensuring grammar and vocabulary was taught through a variety of means and was adapted to the personal needs of the student. However I was always interested in reading about mental health and wellbeing and I care deeply that people emotionally struggle, which lead to my wish to study in this area. I have learned many tools, theories and techniques and how to use these methods to best support people’s mental health.

I started my training in counselling and therapy in 2018. I joined the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, based in London, for my first course in counselling skills, followed by other courses in CBT. As my core training is in CBT/REBT, this has enabled me to provide specialised short term goal orientated therapy to individuals.

In addition to my therapeutic and counselling skills, I have been through some uneven paths myself as well as anyone else, and I have used these skills throughout my personal and working life. I believe that there is much more a therapist can offer that cannot be taught by any course or books alone. Your mental health matters to me.
