HELLO, YOU ARE VERY WELCOME HERE

About Me

Hello, and welcome.
My name is Fernanda, and I am an experienced Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) offering online therapy to adults across the UK and internationally. I provide counselling and psychotherapy in both English and Portuguese, making therapy accessible, flexible and convenient wherever you are.
I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with a particular focus on Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), an evidence-based approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, beliefs and behaviours influence their emotional wellbeing. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the University of Oxford, further strengthening my knowledge and clinical practice.
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, anger, guilt, shame, relationship difficulties and other emotional challenges can affect every aspect of our lives. When this happens, it can be difficult to know how to move forward alone.
My role is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where we can work together to understand what is keeping you stuck. Through counselling, CBT and REBT, I will help you identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier beliefs and behaviours, and build practical coping strategies that support lasting emotional wellbeing.
Therapy is not about changing who you are; it is about helping you become the healthiest version of yourself. Whether you are experiencing a current difficulty or have been struggling for some time, I would be honoured to support you on your journey towards positive and meaningful change. If you are ready to take the first step, I would be delighted to hear from you.

Why I Am Passionate About CBT

I am passionate about CBT because it empowers people to understand themselves differently and equips them with practical tools they can continue using long after therapy has ended. Seeing clients gain confidence, overcome emotional difficulties and achieve their personal goals is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.

I believe therapy should not only help people feel better but also help them become more resilient, self-aware and confident in managing life’s future challenges.

My Professional Journey

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in education. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Portuguese Language, graduating in Brazil in 2007 from the University of Philosophy, Science and Letters. During my teaching career, I worked with students from diverse backgrounds, adapting my teaching style to meet each individual’s needs and learning preferences.

Although I enjoyed teaching, I was always deeply interested in psychology, emotional wellbeing and personal development. This passion inspired me to pursue a new career dedicated to helping people improve their mental health.

I began my professional training in counselling and psychotherapy in 2018 at the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies in London, where I completed my initial Counselling Skills training before continuing with advanced studies in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. As my professional development progressed, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at the University of Oxford, expanding my knowledge and strengthening my evidence-based clinical practice.

Today, I work as both a Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, integrating counselling, CBT and REBT to provide structured, goal-oriented therapy tailored to each client’s individual circumstances and needs.

My Approach

Alongside my professional training and experience, I understand that life can be challenging because I have experienced personal difficulties myself, just as everyone does. These experiences have strengthened my empathy and understanding, allowing me to connect with clients in a friendly, authentic and compassionate way.

I believe that feeling comfortable and safe with your therapist is an essential part of the therapeutic process. My aim is to create a warm, supportive and non-judgemental environment where you feel at ease talking openly, confident in sharing your thoughts and emotions, and able to return to each session without feeling anxious or judged.

While qualifications and professional knowledge are essential, I also believe that genuine empathy, trust and a strong therapeutic relationship are equally important in helping clients achieve meaningful and lasting change.

Your mental health matters, and you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone.

I'd Love to Support You

Finding the right therapist is an important decision. If you feel that my approach is right for you, I’d be delighted to support you on your journey.
